Christmas Eve on Sesame Street

sesame_street If you have kids, love Sesame Street, or if you’re just feeling nostalgic during the holidays, watching “Christmas Eve on Sesame Street on the big screen could be a good way to fill 85 minutes of your day.  Tomorrow, Sunday, December 11th is your last chance to see it (1:00pm). The Sunday screening will be introduced by one of the writers, Joseph A. Bailey. Today we went to the lovely theater at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria to watch this 1978 special featuring all of your favorite Sesame Street characters.  Prior to the film, there is a montage of favorite holiday moments from Sesame Street. The screening is part of the Jim Henson’s Fantastic World exhibition (runs until January 16, 2012), so right after the show it’s worth it to head up to the 3rd floor to take a look.  For those true Muppet aficionados, there are 15 actual puppets on display, including Miss Piggy in her wedding dress from the Muppets Take Manhattan movie. “Christmas Eve on Sesame Street” Sunday, December 11th 1:00PM Museum of the Moving Image 36-01 35 Avenue (at 37 Street) Astoria, NY 11106 Free with admission to the Museum (Admission: $12 adult, $6 child)
