Venturo has been on my Top 5 Eats to Try Next for some time now and we finally tried it!
We went during restaurant week and did not make a reservation (my bad, guys) so we waited around 45 minutes or so. If you have to wait, plant yourself at the bar and get a gringo (rye whiskey, ginger syrup, lime juice, mint) and some ricotta & crostini.
We ordered the restaurant week menu (which was delicious!) as well as some additional items:
- Guanciale Pizza
- Buckwheat Fettuccine Carbonara
- Stuffed Boneless Trout
- Baby Jesus Cake with toffee sauce (heavenly, hence the name, and not to be mistaken for a Mardi Gras King Cake which has a small hidden Baby Jesus figurine in it. There is no Baby Jesus figurine in the cake, which we sadly found out. The origin of the name comes from sibling restaurant Vesta: read about it on We Heart Astoria)
Well worth the wait!
