I was really excited when I saw Forno Pizzeria e Trattoria in Maspeth (there’s hardly ever anything written about Maspeth!) on Eater's The Queens Heatmap back in June and on Grub Street in May. It’s unfortunately not on the Heat Map anymore, but it’s definitely worth a try if you live in or are headed to that area of Queens.
Grub Street suggested getting the Focaccia Robiola Di Ciro, which is a thin pressed panini/pizza creation filled with a decadent cream cheesy-like filling: robiola.
Our friendly server suggested that we order half of the Foccacia Robiola with prosciutto, arugula, and sun-dried tomatoes. Great suggestion and will definitely go for the full thing next time.
We also got the Bucatini alla Amatriciana, which I thought would be a little spicier, but still very good.
It was too much food for two, so next time I think we’ll just get the Foccacia Robiola and a side of Vitello (baked veal meat balls).
For you Maspeth and Middle Village locals….they deliver!
11/12/13 Update: The Fettucini with mushrooms and white truffle oil is also a must-order.
