Hurricane Sandy Devastation in Rockaway

image

There was no home or business left untouched in the Rockaway, Broad Channel, or Breezy Point areas of Queens. Photos courtesy of my sister and brother-in-law who live there. Completely devastating. Please donate as many supplies as you can as many residents lost their homes and/or belongings. Businesses are beginning to collect donations for these heavily affected areas, including Park Ave. Tavern in Manhattan, which has a sister restaurant, Bungalow Bar, in Rockaway that was destroyed. From the Park Ave. TavernFacebook:

“Saloon NYC is taking donations now. Located 1584 York Avenue New York, NY 10028 between 83rd & 84th streets. Park Avenue Tavern NYC & LIBATION NYC will begin taking donations when we get the power back on. Another place to mail donations is to Broad Channel Athletic Club located at 125 Cross Bay BLVD, Broad Channel, NY 11693”

Courtesy of the Rockaway Emergency Planon Facebook, here are some other locations accepting donations: Good Co., 10 Hope Street, Williamsburg Pour House, 7901 3rd Ave, Bay Ridge Mullanes, S. Elliot & Lafayette, Fort Greene Sean James Aiken, 118 Freeman St. b/t Manhattan & Franklin, Greenpoint (not a bar, just a house I think.)
